National School Bus Safety Week . Getting On and Off the Bus • Warn children that if they drop something getting on and off the bus, they should never pick it up. Instead, they should tell the driver and follow the driver’s instructions. • Remind children to look to the right before they step off the bus. • If you meet your child at the bus stop after school, wait on the side where the child will be dropped off, not across the street. Children can be so excited to see you after school that they dash across the street and forget the safety rules. PPPS Transportation Dept. cares about your child's safety. Build together logo. On Day 3 of National Bus Safety Week, today's tip is about keeping kids safe at the bus stop. The PPPS Transportation Department takes driver training and student safety seriously. In addition to regular bus evacuation drills with students, PPPS drivers participate in ongoing training, such as Drivers' Awareness Training, which addresses different scenarios and challenging situations that can occur on the bus. #SchoolBusSafetyWeek #ThankYouBusDrivers #studentsafetymatters #buildtogetherpawpaw

National school bus safe ty week. At the Bus Stop • Have children wait in a location where the driver can see them while driving down the street. Try to avoid waiting in a house or car. • Do not let children play in thestreet. Playing with balls or other toys that could roll into the street is also dangerous. PPPS Transportation Dept. cares about your child's safety
National School Bus Safety Week serves as a reminder for students, parents, teachers and the community to keep school bus safety top-of-mind. Each day this week we will share another bus safety tip. Today's safety tip is focused on walking to the bus stop. #schoolbussafetyweek #thankyoubusdrivers #studentsafetymatters #buildtogetherpawpaw

National school bus safety week. Walking to the Bus Stop • Walk young children to the bus stop or encourage children to walk in groups. There is safety in numbers; groups are easier for drivers to see. • Practice good pedestrian behavior: walk on the sidewalk, and if there is no sidewalk stay out of the street. If you must walk in the street, walk single file, face traffic and stay as close to the edge of the road as you can. • Stop and look left, right and then left again if you must cross the street. Do the same thing at drive -ways and alleys. Exaggerate your head turns and narrate your actions so your child knows you are looking left, right and left. national school bus safety week. Getting Ready for School • Have your children put everything they carry in a backpack or school bag so that they won’t drop things along the way. • Encourage them to wear bright, contrasting colors so they will be more easily seen by drivers. • Make sure children leave home on time so they can arrive at the bus stop before it is due, ideally at least five minutes early. Running after or in front of a bus is dangerous.. ppps transportation department cares about your child's safety. build together logo. school bus clip art

Happy Sunday PPHS parents! We are looking forward to the start of school tomorrow. Reminder that tomorrow is a half day. The building will open at 7:15 and classes will begin at 7:35am. Students are invited to enjoy breakfast- which is free for all students- in the cafeteria while they wait for the hallway to open. We are not printing paper schedules, so students should check Powerschool tonight to see their updated schedules. Locker information can be found under "Forms." School dismisses at 11:05. While lunch will be free for all students this year, it is not being served on half days. Parent drop off and pick up is at the front of the building. We do ask that parents clear from the curb before buses line up at 11:20. Please remind your student to come dressed for school and bring an extra layer, as the air conditioning is quite cool in some rooms. We hope you all get a good night's sleep- we can't wait to see those first day of school pics! See you in the morning! -Mrs Southworth
