At the end of each regular Board of Education Meeting, board members take a moment to share some of the remarkable things they see in the district while serving on the Board. Recently, the board members were asked, “What one thing did you enjoy or appreciate about this year’s back-to-school process?”
Here are this month's points of Pride & Progress:
“Here are a few things I’ve seen and heard recently that I appreciate. With the high enrollment in our kindergarten class this year, I was pleased to see how quickly we responded - clearly the right decision for our students. While reviewing the transportation department’s report, I noticed there were several last-minute bus registrations. Looking ahead, I hope we can continue encouraging families to meet those deadlines, which would help ensure a smoother start for everyone. Lastly, I appreciate how our team and our district come together, show resilience, and lift each other up.” Ray Martin
“Mindy Brennan did a wonderful job on her speech at the Paw Paw Early Childhood Center Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony. The new early childhood center looks great!” Tom Imus
“I was able to attend open houses in three of the buildings. I saw a lot of rejuvenated and happy, smiling teachers! They were eager to welcome kids, help with their lockers, and assist in any way they could. At the later elementary, there was a scavenger hunt, and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. I truly appreciated the positive energy and enthusiasm of our teachers!” Lindsay Clark
“I attended three of the open houses. I was fortunate to be able to visit each classroom my son will be in at the middle school. It was fun to see what he will be experiencing this year. I also had a chance to meet our new band director. Lastly, it was great to meet with the ELA teachers at the high school. They were awesome!” Nate Mitchell
“I went to all six open houses and visited every classroom! In addition to the creative decorating in the classrooms, the teachers were all so welcoming. All the staff were so kind. We have so many great teachers, working so hard, and they stayed until it was over. I was so impressed by how the teachers were uplifting each other and the kids. It was great fun to see the students so excited!” Mary Beth Sons
