Today and tomorrow across Michigan and Paw Paw, including Paw Paw Public Schools, flags will be lowered to half-staff to honor two Michigan firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. On Friday, March 3, flags are lowered in honor of Ricky Hill, and Saturday, March 4, flags are lowered in honor of Paw Paw Firefighter Lt. Ethan Quillen.

Today Paw Paw Later Elementary students who also participate in cub scouts and girl scouts joined Principal Davison outside for morning announcements. For "Words of Wisdom" today, Principal Davison shared the press release about Lt. Quillen from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, then the scouts lowered flag to half-staff per orders and led the school in the pledge of allegiance. All students were asked to pause and reflect tomorrow if they se a flag at half staff and thank Lt. Quillen for the sacrifice he made for all of us in the service of our community.
