Paw Paw Schools will be closed to in-person learning for three days beginning this Monday, Nov. 16. While we will be closed for in-person learning, all students will be expected to participate in remote learning from home from Monday, November 16 through Wednesday, November 18. Families should receive instructions from their children’s teachers and/or building administrators regarding the expectations regarding students’ participation in remote learning on these three days.
PPPS is closing to in-person learning on these three days primarily due to staff member illness and an inability to fill all of our recent vacancies with substitutes when staff members have been absent. As many of you know, we have had to cancel several of our bus routes over the past few days. As a result, student attendance has dropped off significantly.
Please understand that while some of our recent staff absences are COVID-related, most of them are not. We have very few “positive” COVID cases among staff at this time (https://www.ppps.org/page/2020-21-return-to-learning-resources). We still feel very strongly that our schools are a very safe place for students and staff, as our safety protocols have been extremely effective in preventing any spread of COVID in school. We are optimistic that these three-days of remote learning will be sufficient to improve our staffing numbers.
Please be aware that there will be a meal distribution at the high school on Monday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Free meals will be available for pickup for any child in the district during that time.
