At the end of each regular Board of Education Meeting, board members take a moment to share some of the great things they see in the district while serving on the Board. Recently, the board members were asked to reflect on something they are thankful for this holiday season at Paw Paw Public Schools.

Here are this month's points of Pride & Progress:

“I’m thankful for the blending of our staff - from those who are new to those who have been here a long time, some with more than 35 years of experience. It’s great to see everyone come together to help, support, and mentor one other as we keep this ship moving in the right direction.” Brent McNitt

“I’m thankful for the education the schools have given my two kids, both Paw Paw graduates. One is about to graduate from college, and while it’s hard to know what will be expected in college, Paw Paw Public Schools certainly gave them the tools they needed to be prepared. Each of my kids had different needs, and they’ve both been successful as Paw Paw grads - and for that, I am thankful.”  Dale Pease

“This is the last board meeting before Chris DePierre retires, and I am so thankful for all her years of service. In her many roles over the years as teacher, coach, and administrator, I am thankful for all the time she has invested in so many kids. Also, I’m thankful for the wonderful holiday concerts in our schools! To all the music staff, administrators, and custodians who put in the extra hours for the holiday concerts we enjoy, thank you!” Lindsay Clark

“I’m thankful for the students and the student-athletes who get the opportunity this time of year to give back to the community, especially the food drives for the Lions Christmas Basket Program and other community projects.” Tom Imus

“I’m thankful for all the teachers and staff who work together to do what’s best for all kids. Not only has the staff been especially helpful with my own children, but I’ve also seen the same level of support for the other kids, which I appreciate.” Nate Mitchell

“I’m so thankful for all the kids and families who donated to the school food drives to help local families in need this holiday season. It’s heartwarming to know that our kids understand the value of giving back to the community, and this is something to celebrate! I’m also thankful for our teachers and, in my first year as a board member, I’m thankful for the Board and all they have done to help me grow.” Mary Beth Sons
