Paw Paw, MI – When construction began in the fall of 2023, the completion and opening of the Paw Paw Early Childhood (PPEC) Center seemed far off - but now, just two years later, that dream has become a reality. From 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19 the school district, the Board of Education, business leaders from the Paw Paw Area Chamber of Commerce, and the community celebrated the opening of the new early childhood center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house.

The 17,555-square-foot, state-of-the-art early childhood center is conveniently located on the elementary campus and will house both new and existing preschool programming for 3- and 4-year-old children in the district and the surrounding areas. Incoming students will develop skills that are aligned with Paw Paw Public Schools curriculum, preparing them for kindergarten and beyond.

The funds for this project and other school improvement projects were generated by a $47.5 million bond, which voters passed in May of 2022. In collaboration with construction and management partners Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (O-A-K), TowerPinkster, and The Barton Group; the bond and its associated projects were designed to improve educational environments, establish healthy and efficient modern facilities, and make security and safety upgrades throughout the district.

“This building represents the strength of our community and its commitment to children,” said Superintendent Jeremy Davison. “It is a reminder that Paw Paw has always been – and will continue to be – a place of excellence in education. With the support of our families, the dedication of our staff, and the pride of our community, our children will be empowered to grow into their best selves.”
