PPLE

This is Mr. Davison with a look at what's happening for the week of March 22nd.

Please remember that Wednesday and Thursday are early dismissal days due to parent teacher conferences.  Students will be dismissed at 12:25pm on Wednesday, so please plan accordingly for pick up and/or child care for your family on these days.

Girls on the Run practice begins this week.  Practices will take place on Monday and Tuesday for our teams.  Practice is right after school from 2:50-4:20.  Please remember that due to conferences there is only one practice per team this week.

Reading month continues to be a success for the month of March.  Congratulations to Nathaniel Seibert for winning our Tech-Free Tuesday drawing this week.  We have had a lot of fun this week with St. Patrick's Day and dressing like real life heroes.  Please remember that Mondays are read a shirt day and we encourage students to wear shirts with messages on them.  Tuesdays are tech-free Tuesdays and we encourage our families to support this by shutting things off on Tuesday evenings and incorporate some good old fashion reading time.  Friday is spirit day where we ask everyone to wear our school colors or school spiritwear to celebrate being the Red Wolves!

Don't forget that our Elementary Campus PTO on-line Book Fair ends this Sunday.  We are so close to our goal and we just need a few more families to take advantage of the deals and free shipping on orders over $25.  If we sell enough books, it will help us qualify for a Buy One Get One Free Book fair at the very end of the school year.  Take time and see what great book titles are available for your children.  The link can be found on our school website, Facebook page, or in the accompanying email to this message.  As we work on summer school plans, all of the research that we review shows that the biggest, most effective strategy to address literacy is access and opportunities for our kids to read high interest books that they enjoy.  Please take a minute to consider supporting the PTO while supporting our commitment to literacy.

Don't forget that Young 5's and Kindergarten Registration is now open for 2021-2022 school year. Share this information with friends and family that are residents or non-residents.  It's time to get new families registered as we prepare for fantastic new school year!  Please register on our website at ppps.org.

Finally, it is important to remind all of our families about the importance of monitoring for symptoms with our kids each morning.  While we hear about vaccines being distributed to adults and progress with the pandemic, none of this changes things for our kids at school.  We are still isolating classes from one another, we are still maintaining our social distancing, students and staff are still expected to wear masks throughout the school day, and we still need to ask families to keep kids home if they have a fever or are displaying symptoms of illness.  We have attached a copy of the COVID-19 School Health Screening Agreement with procedures that we ask every family to continue to follow, especially as we prepare for and return from spring break.  Thank you for your continued vigilance with this.

Have a great weekend!
