Mask Policy

On Friday, September 25th, Governor Whitmer announced Executive Order 2020-185.  This executive order requires all students in grades kindergarten and up to wear a face covering in classrooms. Prior orders had recommended, but not required, a face covering for grades kindergarten through five.  The executive order officially begins on Monday, October 5th.

Our families have been diligent at home ensuring that students come to school each day with a clean mask to wear throughout the day.  Our campus will spend this week increasing the new mask expectation requiring that all students in grades Young 5’s through 5th grade are wearing masks throughout the entire school day.   Clearly defined mask breaks will be given with breakfast, lunch, recess while social distancing from their peers, and during class instruction at  designated times.

Face masks are a crucial requirement during the school day and we need our families to help us protect our pack by supporting us with the enforcement of our expectations during the school day.  As we begin the fall season, we  traditionally see a big increase in students missing school due to  the cold and flu.   With increased precautions for Covid-19, it is difficult to separate Covid-19 symptoms from simple cold, flu, or allergy      symptoms.   We need your help to minimize student absences.  Working together, we can hopefully avoid a lot of the illness through our commitment to social distancing, the mask policy, and our COVID-19 School Health Screening Checklist.
