Paw Paw, MI – On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Paw Paw Public Schools Superintendent Jeremy Davison received two prestigious awards for outstanding service to the Paw Paw Lions Club and the local community.

The “Lion of the Year” award is a distinguished honor reserved for a club member who goes above and beyond to serve the club and the community.

The second award, the Ken Lautzenheiser Fellowship Award, was named after legendary Lion Kenneth E. Lautzenheiser, who served the Lions for 45 years and was elected to the Board of Lions Clubs International. This award was created in response to a definite need in Michigan for an organization that could address the medical needs of individuals who had no insurance and nowhere else to turn. Through local Lions Club chapters, the award recognizes outstanding individuals who are committed to unselfish and dedicated service to humankind.

One way Paw Paw Public Schools, through partnerships with the Paw Paw Lions Club and the Lions of Michigan Foundation, addresses the medical needs of individuals in our community is by offering vision screening to all students in the district. Through “Operation Kidsight,” if the screening detects a vision problem, students are referred to an eye care professional for further testing. If glasses are deemed necessary and financial assistance is needed, the Paw Paw Lions Club will cover the cost of the glasses.

This unique partnership, along with many other community collaborations, are innovative ways Superintendent Davison and the students and staff of Paw Paw Public Schools are leading the way in fulfilling the district’s vision: To be united with our community to build success.
