Weather Related School Closings and Delays. The arrival of cold weather brings with it the possibility of severe weather conditions that make it too hazardous for school. To prepare for the months ahead, there are some things every family should do and know to plan for the possibility of school cancellations and delays: Confirm your contact information is entered correctly into PowerSchool by accessing or creating a parent account at https://pspawpaw.vbisd.org/public/home.html. This will ensure you get all text, phone, and email alerts sent out by the school district through the PPPS Alert System. If you need help updating your information, please watch this helpful PowerSchool Video Tutorial: https://tinyurl.com/3bn65v2f, or call your child's school office. When you receive a district phone call or alert, please be sure to review it in its entirety before calling the school or district office with questions. Bookmark ppps.org on your web browser. Cancellations and other important information can be found on the the district website. Follow or check the district and school Facebook pages. Cancellations and other information can be found on these social media sites. Look for information on the following television channels and websites: WWMT (Ch. 3), WOOD TV (Ch. 8), WZZM (Ch. 13), and WXMI (Ch. 17) When schools are closed, the Early Childhood Program and Before- and After-Care Programs are also closed. Information about other programs (i.e. athletics) will be communicated on the day of a delay or closing through PPPS Alert System and district social media pages. 2 Hour Delay Procedures: Buses will begin routes 2 hours later than normal time. Students should be at bus stops 2 hours later than normal time. Walkers should not arrive at school more than 10 minutes before classes begin. No breakfast will be served. Lunches begin 30 to 45 minutes after students arrive. No A.M. Tech for high school students. Paw Paw area residents age 60 and older are invited to attend the Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Luncheon this Friday, Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Paw Paw High School. A complimentary traditional Thanksgiving menu with all the trimmings will be served. A suggested donation of $6 is welcomed, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. We apologize for the inconvenience, but due to recent developments, Paw Paw Public Schools has decided to postpone the high school theater production of Alice in Wonderland, tentatively until next weekend. Also, for those who have not yet completed the Education Benefits Form, please visit the PPPS Meal Magic Family Portal to apply for benefits. Enrolled families, here is an important message. Please check your email for our welcome letter and 25-26 school year information.

We have a few important things for you to know as we approach our first day of preschool.

Please attend the ribbon-cutting for our new building on August 19th at 5:00 PM. Your child can be part of the ceremony and ribbon-cutting photo as we open our new school. We will also have treats and activities for your children, and you can see the building and meet the staff. We are in the process of hiring the 3-year-old teacher; you may be able to meet him/her by the 19th. We will update the parents of 3’s with the name of the new teacher as soon as possible.

*Please note that classes for the 4s Free PreK for All / GSRP will not be completed until the week of August 18th because we are bound by guidelines from the VBISD and MiLeap as part of the grant from the State of Michigan. You will receive communication from the teacher the week of the 18th and an invitation to come back to school for a formal greeting; this will be the home visit.

The tuition-based 3-year-old children will begin school on August 25th at 8:30 AM, unless you are opting for the paid early care beginning at 7:00 a.m. Please see the attached survey about this for all children.

The weeks of August 25th - September 5th are going to be the school visits, meet the teacher, and Open House for the Free PreK for All / GSRP 4s, and you will be invited to sign up for a time with the School Bookings link you will receive the week of August 18th

Paw Paw Early Childhood follows the PPPS school calendar. This means both 3-year-old and Free PreK for All / GSRP 4-year-old students will follow our district’s early release days, half days of school, no school days, and school breaks.

Food service offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily, free of charge. You will need to complete the form, which will be given to you in the first week of school, for our district’s records.

Additions to the PPPS 25-26 Calendar

PPEC follows the PPPS school year calendar, which includes all ½ days, early release days, and no school days. However, due to the nature of our program for preschoolers and the requirements for the State of Michigan and Free PreK for All / GSRP, we have some calendar additions/edits for you to be aware of while planning for the upcoming school year.
