At the end of each regular Board of Education Meeting, board members take a moment to share some of the remarkable things they see in the district while serving on the Board. Here are this month's points of Pride & Progress:
“In the last couple of years high school students have really been having fun in the student section, which is great to see! When I walk by this section after football games, I’m pleased to see how students have really taken ownership of this area. They are staying late to clean up confetti and other debris with leaf blowers. It’s little things like this that make a big difference. Lastly - and this is a commercial - I’m excited that Mrs. Southworth is going to present next month on the new RTI Scheduler. This is a game-changing strategy they have employed at the high school.” Brent McNitt
“Congratulations to our Food Service staff for having passed their recent County Health Department kitchen inspections with a score of 100%!” Tom Imus
“I’d like to give two shout-outs to the middle school. The first one is for the new positive recognition program they’ve implemented. If students have no tardies the previous week, they could win a free donut. The following Monday, three students – one from each grade - are randomly selected to win a donut! The second shout-out for the middle school is that conferences went smoothly. The booking system worked great, teachers were able to meet with us, and they were all well prepared. Recently, I also attended a tennis scrimmage and was excited to learn it’s their highest conference finish yet! Lastly, I attended a Sex-Ed Advisory Committee meeting, which was well run by Curriculum Director Susanne Carpenter.” Lindsay Clark
“I love how the music and art teachers are looking for ways they can help with ‘Christmas in the Village’ by working with the community. They are getting creative and figuring out ways they can make it work. I’m so proud of them!” Mary Beth Sons
