Paw Paw, MI – Paw Paw Public Schools’ Cedar Street Campus has faithfully stood as an educational beacon to the Paw Paw community for 72 years. First, it opened its doors as Cedar Street Elementary School in 1953, and over the years, it has served the community in many ways – acting as a home for adult education, online education, early childhood education, before-and after-school care, alternative education, and more. While students of all ages, backgrounds and educational levels have walked its hallowed halls, the mission remains the same: to develop, support and inspire every student for lifelong success.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the Cedar Street Campus is once again reinventing itself. This time, administrators and staff are hyperfocused on becoming the obvious choice for alternative, adult, and online education in Van Buren County. With new leadership, updated classrooms and bold ideas, the educational programs at Cedar Street are innovative, flexible, and strategically designed to meet the needs of today’s students. While other districts may offer online learning labs, the Cedar Street Campus - located in the heart of Paw Paw - offers highly qualified, certified teachers, seated in the classroom, working alongside students, with programs tailored to meet their individual educational goals.
“Leading the charge in a new, exciting role at Cedar Street is Sarah Chandler, Lead Teacher for Alternative and Adult Education,” said PPPS Superintendent Jeremy Davison. “Chandler brings four years’ experience as an English teacher in the Alternative Education Program and a passion for helping students who benefit from a more flexible and supportive environment. Sarah will be working closely with Cedar Street teachers, staff and Paw Paw Public Schools Director of Curriculum and Instruction to serve the needs of Cedar Street students and the community."
Students who are experiencing challenges in conventional academic settings - and who see themselves thriving with one-on-one attention from caring, qualified teachers and smaller class sizes - are encouraged to learn more about Cedar Street by visiting the website www.ppps.org, or by calling 269-415-5700.
