students helping each other in the classroom.

Paw Paw’s Young Five’s teachers have recently completed the identification of Essential Standards in the area of social and emotional behavior.  The following social and emotional behavior standards will be taught and observed through the school:  (1) I can find ways to solve problems, (2) I can play and work with others, and (3) I can tell my teacher how I am feeling.  Staff members are utilizing teaching practices to create a culture that looks at the “whole child”, rather than focusing solely on academic learning. Teachers began implementing these practices upon returning from the holiday break, and students are accepting the responsibilities and taking ownership of their actions. This is an important step in early childhood development.
