Paw Paw Public Schools and Hoekstra Transportation Team up to Host Bus Driver Recruitment Event

Paw Paw, Michigan – “Anyone can drive a car.  It takes someone special to drive a school bus.” This exemplifies the type of people Paw Paw Public Schools is hoping to attract Saturday November 20th, 2021, from 10:00 am – 1:30 pm, as they team up with Hoekstra Transportation to host a one-day Bus Driver Recruitment Event.

Qualified candidates are welcome to come enjoy coffee, a pizza lunch and even test drive a bus! Candidates who complete and turn in an application the day of the event will be entered into a drawing for a 55” Flat Screen Television along with other prizes being given out throughout the day. The district needs three full-time and at least two substitute drivers. In addition to attracting new drivers, this event was also designed to help familiarize the candidates and the public with how fun and rewarding this career can be.

The mission of Paw Paw Public Schools is to develop, support, challenge and inspire every child for life-long success. That success is a team effort and the type of collaboration that drives the culture of Paw Paw Public Schools. So, when Hoekstra Transportation approached Transportation Director Angela Vasquez with the concept of teaming up to host this one-day event, she welcomed the idea. Hoekstra Transportation has been an important partner to Paw Paw Public Schools and strives to establish itself as a valuable resource to school districts across the state of Michigan. Not just in providing Thomas Built buses and a full realm of services, but in going above and beyond for their customers especially in times of need.

“We feel like this event is a great and fun way to showcase bus driving as a career.” said Vasquez. “Our drivers receive great pay, benefits, paid training & testing, holiday pay and much more. It’s a great job for a stay-at-home parent, and they can actually bring their child to work with them, eliminating the need to pay for childcare.”

This event will take place Saturday November 20th, 2021, from 10:00 am – 1:30pm at Paw Paw High School, 30609 Red Arrow Highway, Paw Paw, MI 49079.
