PPPS Board of Education District Shout-OUts Build Together PPPS

At the end of each regular Board of Education Meeting, board members take a moment to share some of the great things they see in the district while serving on the Board. Here are this month's points of Pride & Progress:

“It was great to see the Spamalot theme of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table carried through to Reading Month at the elementary campus. “Royal Reading Month” featured many exciting events this year, including royal attire dress-up days, home reading challenges, mystery readers and much more. In addition to Reading Month, it is always great to see students get excited about their Science Fair projects! Lastly, as an Art Dad, I would like to say how gratifying it has been to see the expansion of art class offerings since moving to trimester schedules at the high school. I am so proud of the growth in the art department in the last three or four years and how that has benefitted so many students, including my own.” Brent McNitt

“At the Cedar Street Campus, the Paw Paw Early Childhood Center (PPEC) hosted Preschool Round-Up on April 10, which was well attended. Prior to the event, 44 students were already enrolled, and 30 more attended Round-Up, which was awesome! It is great to see so much collaboration taking place between PPEC and the Early Elementary this year in terms of student placement. On another note, at the Cedar Street Campus, there is a 48% increase in the Adult Education enrollment. Lastly, I’d like to highlight Olivia Skowronski as the Student of the Month at Cedar Street. As an online student, Olivia goes above and beyond. Her dedication to her studies is only matched by her kindness and consideration.”  Dale Pease

"Nominated by Amy Gronda for being an outstanding role model, the Student of the Month at Paw Paw High School was Nolan Mayo. Also, shout-out to the Grad Bash team for taking time to deliver the PPHS Class of 2025 yard signs to the all the seniors' homes, and special thanks to Studio One Creative for designing and sponsoring the signs. It was a nice surprise for the seniors as they finish their last stretch of high school. Lastly, kudos to HS Counselor Jeana Steciow for coordinating the PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and the ACT WorkKeys." Ray Martin

"At Paw Paw Middle School, the 7th grade class recently visited the Air Zoo. Also noteworthy, the 8th grade class took their PSAT tests. Some upcoming MS events include the performance of Aladdin Jr. on April 26 at 2 and 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, and on April 30, all board members are invited to the 6th Grade Salmon Release. Additionally, I love the format of the new principals’ and directors’ board reports. They are easier to read and highlight our core values. Lastly, I was encouraged to read in Mr. McDaniel’s report that teachers and staff showed unity and school spirit by taking the time to play in the students’ 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament after school. That speaks volumes that the staff would give their time to participate.”  Lindsay Clark

“At Paw Paw Early Elementary, I would like to give a shout-out to the community and the teachers for organizing and attending parent-teacher conferences. At least 95% of families felt it was important enough to attend conferences, which is a favorable indicator for our district. Secondly, it showed great creativity and resilience for the EE staff to throw a dance party so students and teachers could blow off steam and have fun during the district’s network outage!” Nate Mitchell

Shout-out to the administration team at Central Office. Every time I visit, I have a lot of questions. They always take the time to answer my questions. Also, I recently attended the Senior Citizens Luncheon, and I was so impressed! Huge shout-out to the MS Robotics Team for giving a wonderful presentation and to the MS students and the HS students in the “Pay it Forward” Class for taking time to interact with the senior citizens – truly heartwarming to see. Additionally, I was honored to see so many HS students inducted into the inaugural class of the International Thespian Society. Lastly, I’ve heard from several community leaders that Superintendent Davison and the leadership team are doing a great job connecting and communicating with the community.”   Mary Beth Sons
