Paw Paw, MI – From 7:35 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. today, students at Paw Paw High School will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to work in the skilled trades. A touring exhibition, called “The Mobile Field Trip” features virtual reality and hands-on activities that allow students to envision a career working in the skilled trades.

Schools to Tools” gives students a comprehensive understanding of their post-high school options and empowers them to make informed decisions that lead to the right career path for them. While college is a great option for many graduates, the counseling staff and teachers at Paw Paw High School encourage students to explore all the alternatives, including the unionized construction skilled trades.

Students will have a chance to participate in a training center tour, interactive instruction and hear from guest speakers and trade experts.

Unionized skilled trades also offer apprenticeships, sometimes referred to as the other four-year degree. These apprenticeships are tuition free, and graduates of skilled trade apprenticeships can take many paths over the course of their careers: working with their tools, managing crews, estimating jobs, opening their own construction firms, inspecting job sites, working with leading city building departments, working as union organizers, and more.
