All positive COVID-19 cases among PPPS staff and students will be posted here. In accordance with PPPS's COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan, the following actions will take place for each positive case:

  • PPPS will work closely with the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department to conduct contact tracing. Those individuals who are determined to have been in close contact with the COVID-19 positive staff member or student will be personally contacted by a representative from the Health Department with additional guidance.

  • The PPPS facilities team will conduct additional deep cleaning and disinfecting of the classroom, office, bus, or other space that was occupied by the COVID-19 positive individual prior to it being reopened for staff and/or students.

4/16/2021

PPPS was informed today that a student attending Paw Paw Early Elementary School is a probable case for COVID-19, a student attending Paw Paw High School tested positive for COVID-19, and another PPHS student is a probable case for COVID-19. All three students have been directed to isolate until released by the health department. Thirteen other individuals associated with PPPS have been directed to quarantine by the health department as a result of being a close contact to one of these individuals.

PPPS was informed today that a student attending Paw Paw Early Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. This student has been directed to isolate until released by the Health Department. Three other individuals associated with PPPS were determined to be in close contact with this student during the infectious period and have been directed to quarantine until released by the health department.

PPPS was informed today that two students attending Paw Paw Middle School and one student attending Paw Paw High School tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals have been directed to isolate until released by the Health Department. No other individuals associated with PPPS were determined to be in close contact with any of these individuals during their infectious periods.

PPPS was informed today that two students attending Paw Paw Middle School and three students attending Paw Paw High School tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals have been directed to isolate until released by the Health Department. Nine other individuals associated with PPPS were determined to be in close contact with at least one of these individuals during their infectious periods and have been directed to quarantine until released by the health department.

PPPS was informed today that a student attending Paw Paw Middle School, three students attending Paw Paw High School, and a Paw Paw High School staff member tested positive for COVID-19. An additional Paw Paw High School student is a probable case of COVID-19. These individuals have been directed to isolate until released by the Health Department. Except for family members of the infected individuals, no other individuals associated with PPPS were determined to be in close contact with these individuals during their infectious periods.

All three individuals have been directed to isolate until released by the Health Department. PPPS was informed today that a student at Paw Paw High School, a staff member at Paw Paw High School, and a student at Paw Paw Early Elementary School are "probable cases" of COVID-19. All were directed to isolation by the Health Department. These individuals each developed COVID-like symptoms after being in close contact with other individuals who have since tested positive for COVID-19. These three cases are unrelated. Only one other student was determined to be in close contact with the Early Elementary student during the potentially infectious period and has been directed to quarantine. In addition, we were informed today that a middle school student tested positive for COVID-19. This student was directed to isolation by the Health Department. No other individuals associated with PPPS were deemed to be in close contact with the MS student during the infectious period.

PPPS was informed today that a student at Paw Paw Early Elementary School and a student at Paw Paw High School have tested positive for COVID-19. Both students have been directed to isolation by the Health Department. As a safety precaution, all 18 students and one staff member in the elementary student's classroom are being quarantined until released by the Health Department. Nine additional students are being quarantined as well, as they were deemed to be in close contact with the student during the infectious period. Two other students were deemed to be in close contact with the high school student during the infectious period and have been ordered to quarantine.

PPPS was informed today that a middle school student is considered a "probable case" of COVID-19 as a result of experiencing COVID-like symptoms and recently being in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. As a precautionary measure, 12 additional students were directed to quarantine, as they were identified as possible close contacts, while the contact tracing investigation is being completed.

PPPS was informed today that two high school students tested positive for COVID-19, and two high school students are considered "probable" cases because they have COVID-like symptoms and were recently in contact with someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19. All four students were directed to quarantine by the Health Department. In addition, four students and one staff member were directed to quarantine for being in close contact with one of these individuals during the infectious period.

PPPS was also informed today that a staff member at Paw Paw Early Elementary School is a "probable" case of COVID-19 because that individual was recently in close contact with a positive case and has since developed COVID-like symptoms. This individual has been directed to quarantine by the Health Department. No other people associated with PPPS were determined to be in close contact with this staff member during the infectious period.

PPPS was informed yesterday that one staff member at Paw Paw Later Elementary and two students at Paw Paw High School have tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of contact tracing for these individuals, two staff members were determined to be in close contact with the PPLE staff member during the infectious period, and five students were determined to be in close contact with one of the PPHS students during the infectious period. At the direction of the Health Department, the three individuals who tested positive and the seven individuals who were close contacts will be quarantined until released to return to school/work.

Today, PPPS was informed that three high school students tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Health Department, the individuals will be quarantined until released to return to school. As a result of contact tracing for each of these students, nine additional people associated with PPPS have been ordered to quarantine by the health department.

Today, PPPS was informed that a Paw Paw Later Elementary student tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to school. There were no additional individuals associated with PPPS who were determined to have been in close contact with the student while in the infectious period.

Today, PPPS was informed that both a high school student and a student at Paw Paw Later Elementary tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Health Department, the individuals will be quarantined until released to return to school. No additional people associated with PPPS were determined to have been in close contact with the high school student, but six students and one staff member have been ordered to quarantine by the health department due to being in close contact with the later elementary student during the infectious period.

Today, PPPS was informed that a high school student tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to school. There were 19 additional PPPS students and two adults who were determined to have been in close contact with the individual while in the infectious period. These individuals have been contacted and directed to quarantine until cleared to return to school/work by the Health Department.

Today, PPPS was informed that a high school student tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to school. There were nine additional PPPS students who were determined to have been in close contact with the individual while in the infectious period. Their families have been contacted, and the students have been directed to quarantine until cleared to return to school by the Health Department.

10/28/2020

Today, PPPS was informed that a student has tested positive for COVID-19 and a 2nd student is a "probable case" of COVID-19. Both students attend Paw Paw High school. These two cases are unrelated. The student who is a "probable case" currently has COVID-like symptoms and was determined to have been in close contact last Thursday with a person who has since tested positive for COVID-19. Both of these students have been directed to quarantine until cleared to return to school by the Health Department. Contact tracing on the students has resulted in ten additional students and one staff member being directed to quarantine as well.

Today, PPPS was informed that a student at Paw Paw Middle School is a "probable case" of COVID-19. This student was determined to be in close contact on Wednesday of last week with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was then immediately placed in quarantine and has not returned to school. Since being in quarantine, the individual has developed COVID-like symptoms. At the direction of the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, the individual will continue to be quarantined until released to return to school. No one associated with PPPS was determined to be in close contact with this individual during the time when they were potentially infectious.

Today, PPPS was informed that a staff member in our athletic department tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to work. Those who were determined to have been in close contact with the individual have also been contacted and directed to quarantine until cleared to return to school/work by the Health Department.

Today, PPPS was informed that a staff member assigned to our high school building tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to work. The only individuals associated with PPPS identified as having close contact with this person during the infectious period were already under quarantine for a separate positive exposure. Those individuals will remain in quarantine until cleared to return to school/work by the Health Department.

Today, PPPS was informed that a staff member assigned to our high school building tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to work. Only one other person associated with Paw Paw Schools may have been in close contact with the individual during the infectious period, and that person has been contacted and advised by Health Department personnel.

9-27-2020

Today, PPPS was informed that a student or staff member in one of the Van Buren ISD program classrooms on our Cedar Street Campus tested positive for COVID-19. At the direction of the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, the individual will be quarantined until released to return to work/school. The Health Department has identified the “close contacts” to the infected individual during the infectious period. Those close contacts are also being ordered to quarantine by the Health Department.
