SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Science Olympiad is a 15-member team of students devoted to increasing and improving education, interest and achievement in science. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, training, and practice sessions in order to prepare for competition at the Regional and State levels.

Students not only learn valuable science process skills, but also character skills such as leadership, thinking under pressure, teamwork, planning and organization.

The events that the students compete in represent various science disciplines such as earth science, biology, chemistry, physics and technology. There is also variety in the science methods needed. Some events require knowledge of science concepts while others involve building and processing skills.

Examples of events include: Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, Chemistry Lab, Disease Detective, Dynamic Planet, Egg-o-Naut, Elevated Bridge, Experimental Design, and Fossils just to name a few.
