The members of the Peer Assistant Leadership program have been selected and trained as peer interventionists. Some of the activities they may be engaged in include a yearly class-designed service project, listening and helping peers throughout the school year, teamwork training at a local camp, serving as student helpers for the school's Crisis Response Plan, tutoring, working with elementary and middle school students as mentors for various programs, serving as "buddies" for students new to Paw Paw, and working with people from our community who need a helping hand (senior citizens, ill and/or people with disabilities).

The PPHS PAL philosophy is that all students can be leaders. The PALS group is not a "club" for students who are academically strong, gifted in athletics or arts, or are voted in as a popular choice. Students in PALS are a reflection of the entire student body. The intention is that any student who wishes to speak to a PAL will find a suitable match and feel comfortable communicating with him or her to resolve problems.

Applications for PALS are available in the spring, and the application deadline is included in the daily school announcements. Students interested in becoming a part of PALS must complete an application and have peer and teacher recommendation forms returned in a timely manner. Students who will be Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in the following school year are welcome to apply for PALS.
There is a limited amount of space for members of PALS. Students who have applied and have not been accepted in one school year are welcome to re-apply in a later school year.
