    BIO:

I'm Laura Howell.  I was born in Colon, Michigan, but lived most of my life in Coldwater, graduating from Coldwater High School in 1974.  After graduating from WMU, I started my teaching career at Hackett Catholic Central High School in Kalamazoo in 1979. I came to Paw Paw in 1984 and am starting my 40th year in secondary education. During my career, I have been very active in the extra-curricular life of the school in many diverse roles.  This year I will be serving as the World Languages Curriculum Chairperson and am the announcer for the Paw Paw Pride Marching Band. I earned my master's degree at Cornerstone University and am actively involved in the life of my church. I also serve as a certified medical interpreter. I live in Paw Paw with Thomas, my husband of 37 years, and a miniature schnauzer named Sally. Thomas is a project engineer with Shape Corporation in Grand Haven, MI and often travels internationally.  We have two children who are graduates of PPHS, Bethany (2001) and Spencer (2007). Beth is married to Joel Orders who is serving in the US Army, currently stationed in Chicago as a recruiter.  Beth is the smart home expert for the Best Buy in Tinley Park.  They are the parents of two of my grandchildren, Derek, who is ten years old, and Ethan who is seven.  My son Spence is a diesel mechanic for Star Truck Rentals in Battle Creek.  His wife Kasey works at the Home Depot in Portage. They are the parents of my other two grandchildren, Piper, who is four years old, and our youngest family member, Maverick, who was born last April.
