Students painting the Hallways

Over the past few months students have been taking an active role in the appearance at Aspire Academy. They have been lending a hand in the preparation and work of painting the hallways.  Students worked hard, spending multiple Fridays taping, painting, and cleaning all of the hallways. Aspire Academy now has a fresh new look, with hallways painted in a maroon and tan theme that matches student lockers. Students are very proud to show off their hard work and the difference they have made at their school.

House Time:

Students at Aspire Academy have been taking part in House Time. Each student now belongs to one of the four houses of the Harry Potter books (Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff) lead by teachers. Students have been using their “House Time” to stay up to date on their grades, volunteer for school beautification projects, and explore and discuss topics that impact their lives. Every Thursday, all students watch a video provided through the Harbor Project by Jostens. The videos cover topics like success, judgement, distractions, community awareness, and much more. Students are then given time to think about the video’s message and consider how it might relate to their lives and community. After each video is shown, discussions are held among “Housemates” and the Head of House (teacher). Each discussion has helped the students build a stronger community, an awareness of the needs of others, and a healthy opportunity for students to express their needs and concerns. As the year progresses, students will continue to explore a range of topics and work to build a strong supportive community.
