Life can be full of challenges and difficulties that demand non-traditional solutions.
The Michigan Avenue Academy offers those non-traditional solutions for students overcoming difficulties. In addition to our basic program, we focus on building social awareness and offering students varied opportunities to gain knowledge through experience. Student services include a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), offering both individual and group support and counseling services, and a school-court liaison to work with students who are connected with the court system.
Middle School Choices
Middle school can be a difficult time in a child's school career. Our Choice's Program is designed to help students who are not meeting success in a traditional school setting. With extra support, our students begin to feel better about themselves and start experiencing the joy of succeeding. High School Options
Our High School Options program has been in operation since 1990, and serves students in the ninth through the twelfth grades. A student's high school years should be a time of discovery and personal growth as well as academic achievement. Our High School Options Program is designed to help students who are not meeting success in a traditional school setting. Teenage Parent Program (TAPP)
Finally, our Teen Age Parents Program (TAPP) has served pregnant and parenting
teens since 1986. This program offers students a complete academic program as
well as classes in pre and post natal health, parenting and child development.
On site child care allows parents to bring their babies to school and
facilitates instructors' teaching of positive child care techniques. Toddlers
and preschool children have access to our Learning Tree programs.
