BIO:

ˇHola!  I'm Laura Howell.  I was born in Colon, Michigan, but lived most of my life in Coldwater, graduating from Coldwater High School in 1974 (do the math!).  After graduating from WMU, I started my teaching career at Hackett Catholic Central High School in Kalamazoo in 1979. I came to Paw Paw in 1984 and am starting my 33rd year in secondary education. During my career, I have been a Student Council Advisor, class sponsor, NHS Advisor, KVA Quiz Bowl Coordinator, Building School Improvement Chairperson, District School Improvement Chairperson, Mexico Trip Coordinator, World Languages Committee Chairperson, and a mentor teacher.   I have run the scoreboard for basketball games, kept score at wrestling matches, been the event manager for wrestling tournaments, and currently am the announcer for the PPHS PRIDE Marching Band.  I earned my master's degree at Cornerstone University and am actively involved in the life of my church. As a certified medical interpreter, I have been called to interpret at Lakeview Hospital, the Van Buren County Jail, and District Court.  I live in Paw Paw with Thomas, my husband of thirty years, a miniature schnauzer named Sally and my son-in-law's dog, a Rottweiler, pit bull, Labrador mix named Bella.  I have two children who are graduates of PPHS, Bethany (2001) and Spencer (2007).  Beth is married to Joel Orders who is serving in the US Army, stationed at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy.  They are the parents of my two grandsons, Derek, who is three years old, and Ethan who was born on July 28th of this year.  My son Spence is a diesel mechanic.
