DECA is an organization of marketing students. Throughout the year, high school members are offered the opportunity to participate in many conferences that focus on DECA's four main goals: Vocational Understanding, Leadership Development, Civic Consciousness, and Social Intelligence. This year, members will have the opportunity to attend District Competitions, the State Career Development Conference, and the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, GA.

Paw Paw enjoyed another successful year in 2008-2009. Sarah Kuehl became the first member of the Paw Paw DECA
chapter to qualify for the International Career Development Conference. Sarah,
along with Tyler Sylvester and Theresa Ghiloni, competed at the DECA State
Career Development Conference, on March 13th-15th, in Dearborn. Sarah won gold
medals for both of her role play events and finished second overall in the
Restaurant Food Service Management category. That finish earned Kuehl a spot to
compete in the ICDC to be held in Anaheim,
California at the end of April.
The chapter was also able to attend the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Conference in Orlando, FL. While there, they were able to learn from some of the top marketers in the fields of sports and entertainment. The students also had the opportunity to enjoy much of what Orlando has to offer, including Universal Studios, Disney World and The Blue Man Group.
